The World Organisation for Animal Health Sub-Regional Representation for the Arabian Gulf (SRRAG) organized the webinar “One Health One Welfare” on the 7th of August 2024.
Animal welfare is closely linked to animal health and human health and welfare, as the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH) emphasizes in its Global Animal Welfare Strategy of 2017.
Within the same context, ‘One Welfare’ is a concept that calls for veterinarians and related animal services, environmental scientists, and human psychiatrists to collaborate and share expertise in order to care for the welfare of both animals and their owners.
Therefore, One Health and Animal Welfare are important and overlapping fields that could benefit from each other. This implies broadening the horizons and strengthening the science-based relationships between them and other areas of the sciences, to extensively explore connections and enhance joint collaborative efforts towards common goals.
