In view of current global demographic challenges and the effects of climate change, animal health is more important than ever to the development and well-being of human populations. Yet, animal diseases can undermine these benefits. Therefore, evaluating the burden linked to these diseases is key to building a more sustainable world. This is the goal of the Global Burden of Animal Diseases (GBADs) programme, led by the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE), the University of Liverpool, and a partnership of international institutions.
