The Global Framework for the Progressive Control of Transboundary Animal Diseases (GF-TADs) is a joint initiative of the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), which combines the strengths of both organisations to achieve agreed common objectives.
Launched in May 2004, GF-TADs is a facilitating mechanism that endeavours to empower global and regional alliances in the fight against Transboundary Animal Diseases (TADs), to provide for capacity building and to assist in establishing programmes for the specific control of certain TADs based on global and regional priorities.
The Global Framework for the Progressive Control of Transboundary Animal Diseases (GF-TADs)
The Global Framework for the Progressive Control of Transboundary Animal Diseases (GF-TADs) was instantiated to achieve the prevention and control of transboundary animal diseases (TADs) to address their regional and global dimensions. The initiative is built on experiences in the past, showing that progress in controlling TADs at the country level is not likely to be successful and sustainable unless the efforts are part of a coordinated regional approach / embedded into supra-national frameworks.
